PACKAGING STANDARDS

PACKAGING STANDARDS

The purpose of these standards is to ensure that Hubert can efficiently receive, store, and ship product. Appropriate product packaging and labeling will minimize receiving and shipping errors and maintain product integrity.

  1. All items should be shipped as one Hubert selling unit of measure. All boxes, cases, master cases, packages, inner packs, or any type of packed item must be marked with Seller part number if possible, Hubert item # (preferably both), and the quantity per box. Country of origin must be clearly marked in a conspicuous place as legibly, indelibly to the ultimate purchaser the origin of the article.

  1. Items consisting of multiple parts making up one Hubert selling unit of measure need to be packed so that the product can be picked as a complete unit (i.e. all components bagged or boxed).

  1. Hardware kits and small parts like screws, brackets, clips, etc. need to be placed into a bag along with assembly directions. They should be attached to the primary product so the end user can easily locate.

  1. Hubert selling units that are a combination of breakable items like glass, ceramic, plastic and metal require special packing. The breakable items need to be boxed separately and protected with bubble wrap or Styrofoam. That box should then be put into the master carton with the rest of the selling unit which also has proper protection and packing.

  1. Items made of steel, ceramic, plastic (i.e. breakable items), and items with sharp edges should never be placed in a plastic or paper bag sent as the final package.

  1. Clothing and textiles must be bagged per Hubert selling unit and labeled within the master case.

  1. The boxed product needs sufficient packing for protection using bubble wrap, paper, cardboard, etc. to guard against damage. If more than one item per box, each item must be individually bubble wrapped.

  1. The box and the packing needs to effectively protect the contents from breaking, falling out and also minimize shifting within the box. Ideally this box will double as Hubert’s shipping carton.

  1. Master cartons should be sized to the product to minimize cube and storage space and reduce freight costs.

Please contact the buyer with any specific concerns regarding product packaging.
